( later, after her return from bruce's place, kara will be curled up on the couch in pajamas and under a thin blanket. she doesn't need the warmth, of course; it's just for comfort. she's got the menu of eudio's equivalent to netflix up on the screen, but mostly she's staring out of the window of her apartment.
[Clark still knocks before slipping in, a pie in one hand and a bag with a few things held in the other. He breathes in deep before making a decision, tilting his head a little as he peers over at her. When he speaks, it's not in English. He's not sure if the Kryptonese that he knows is the same as it is for her; he knows well enough from Karen that Krypton could be as different as Earth depending on the universe. But maybe--]
( bruce had done the same thing - speak in the language of her home planet. it's enough to bring a wobbly smile to kara's face and her to her feet. with bruce, there hadn't been much physical contact for comfort, except his hand over hers when she'd told him about the black mercy, but clark is family.
he's the only family she has left, now that alura has also died. at least the only family based on blood. so she walks up where he's slipped into the living room, and straight into him, leaning her head against his chest and hugging him.
he's got his habds full, he doesn't have to hug her back, but - ) Thanks, Clark.
( can they just stay like this for a moment? just - a little while. eventually, kara will straighten and smile, and it'll be less wobbly than before. )
[He smiled, warm and easy, before pointing down to the one bag. There was a chocolate pecan pie but also something else, as close of a recreation to one of the more popular Kryptonian desserts as he could make, given the lack of the exact same fruits. He'd chosen from those available here that looked to be comparable, similarly colored and flavored, and the candying process as well as the presentation he'd long ago perfected and duplicated from what records he had: they were arranged in color-coordinated pieces on a skewer, a row of them laid out on a covered container just below the box with the pie. Hopefully if the language was the same, this would be too.]
You'll have to take a look and find out for yourself.
( kara kneels down to check out the contents of the bag, unearthing the chocolate pecan pie first and looking up to clark with her smile wider and more honest, but then there's more in the bag, and - )
You made this?
( you are the sweetest and best cousin anyone could wish for. )
[He nods down to her with a little grin; that tells him without asking that it was right. Even if he wasn't, they're an exceptionally pretty dessert, sparkling crystalline sugar and brightly colored.]
It's one of my favorites, though I don't go through the trouble too often. It seemed like the right day for it.
( kara nods, grabbing the remote to set everything up. once the movie is paused at the very beginning, kara gets up as well to grab some napkins and a knife to cut the pie with, as well as some forks.
there's a big bottle of water and two glasses already on the table in front of the couch. so she figures they've got everything they need, and settles on the couch again, legs curled underneath her. )
[He grabbed a pair of skewers before settling back on the couch, leaving one arm free if she wanted to tuck up. He could do without the pie to provide cuddles.]
( kara wants to, and she takes his actions as a silent invitation, settling her weight against his side and putting her head on his shoulder. it's not quite the same as watching something with alex, but it's good. it's really good. )

Watching him sand the stairs and cuddling with Ace.
Whenever is good for you.

And I can come over there if you'd like. Or you and I could do it ourselves later. It's all up to you.
You know I don't mind spending time with Bruce, after all. :-)

Later? I mean. You can come over here, too? I'm sure Bruce wouldn't mind that.
( but bruce isn't exactly the cuddly type, and kara wants to curl up on the couch and watch a terrible movie. )

( it's good, getting to speak her own language again. she doesn't want that to become something she forgets. )

[Clark is happy to speak Kryptonese as much as she likes. She's not the only one who wants to keep it alive, after all.]

There's a lot of movies we could watch. How do you feel about Disney?
